Floating Panels
Overlay panels that stay visible while you work in the editor
Floating panels let you keep important tools visible while working in the editor. Unlike docked panels that take up layout space, floating panels overlay your workspace and can be positioned anywhere.

Floating vs Docked Panels
| Aspect | Floating | Docked |
|---|---|---|
| Position | Anywhere on screen | Fixed in layout |
| Layout impact | None (overlays content) | Takes up space |
| Visibility | Toggle on/off | Always visible when in layout |
| Use case | Quick access while editing | Dedicated workspace |
When you open a floating panel, the corresponding docked panel automatically hides to avoid duplication.
